I thought I knew how to clean...

So, this past Friday were the dreaded cleaning checks for the month. My job this time was the bathroom and toilet- which I had never been assigned to do for the whole 2 years living here, awesome I know. So as I was cleaning the toilet, I sprayed some Clorox Clean-up on the toilet seat and let it sit to disinfect everything. I went about the rest of my cleaning, and I came back to it. I noticed that it had turned a weird blue color, which I thought was interesting. As I started wiping up the cleaner, I realized that white stuff was coming off. I yelled for my roommate Rachel to come look at it, and we both realized that the bleach had started stripping off the paint from the toilet seat! I thought that I was a good bathroom cleaner, but apparently I struggle in a few areas. {in my defense, I have never had a wooden toilet seat before- they have always been plastic or ceramic} I love ghetto old things :)
So take my mistake as your lesson. DO NOT spray bleach onto toilet seats, or they will melt, haha.

Also, I am so loving the sun and warmth right now and I am dreading that it is going to get cold again. I totally have Spring Fever, and I just want the warmth to come. I am really wishing I could go back to Vegas, where I was 5 weeks ago, loving the 70 degree temperatures and the fun times that we had. Love you Carli, Noah, Steve and Dan- such a fun little road trip :)

{It must be Valentines}

I love Valentines Day. It has always been a day of fun whether actually celebrating Valentines, or Singles Awareness. One of my favorite parts of the holiday is the candy. Now, coming from a candy makers daughter, that probably shouldn't be a surprise, but I really do have so much fun. This year, while cleaning out all of the drawers in the kitchen, I came across a few Valentine cookie cutters, some were mine, and the others belonged to the roomies. I decided to make and decorate sugar cookies, and not only were they super tasty, but they looked SO adorable too {big huge thanks to Carli and Noah for helping decorate them} We cranked up the oldies love songs and decorated away.

The recipe can be found at allrecipes.com {just type in rolled sugar cookies}

First you roll out the dough and cut out the cookies
{I used powder sugar to roll the cookies- instead of flour- it gives it a better taste}

Cook in the oven 7-8 minutes at 375 degrees

Let cool before frosting

And Ta-Da!!! Beautiful Cookies

To finish, I packaged them and handed them out as a fun Valentines treat!

So, Happy Valentines Day {tomorrow} I hope you take a moment tell someone you love them.
